Welcome from the Principal

At The Olive School, Birmingham, we believe that energy, enthusiasm and endeavour are essential to the delivery of excellence, and establishing positive relationships with parents and the local community is crucial to the school’s success.

We have a key role to play in every child’s physical and emotional well-being, and our school provides a safe, focused and happy environment for learning, which is designed to foster and satisfy our pupils’ natural curiosity and deliver a personalised approach to educational excellence. From reception onwards, we provide every child with a first-class and age-appropriate education in numeracy, literacy, the arts and the sciences, inspiring them to develop a thirst for knowledge and a deeper understanding of the world. We also encourage all of our children to identify and explore their own individual talents and interests.

Through our values-based, inclusive and character-driven ethos, our pupils learn how to initiate and maintain positive relationships, work as part of a team, and communicate respectfully with everyone they know. Our system of praise and rewards promotes good behaviour and encourages our children to always work to the best of their ability. We also provide our pupils with plenty of opportunities to make a positive impact on their community, encouraging an awareness of – and compassion for – the needs of others.

We believe all of our pupils are capable of succeeding with the right encouragement, and through a range of enrichment activities and a robust leadership programme that focuses on developing pupils’ Moral, Performance and Civic Leadership skills, our pupils will begin to develop the characteristics required to become ethical, accomplished and productive members of society.
